What is a Currency Pair?
In global markets, a currency pair is a financial instrument where the value of two different currencies is traded against each other. A currency pair consists of a base currency (the first listed) and a quote currency (the second listed). Investors trade based on whether they believe one currency will appreciate or depreciate in value relative to the other. For example, the EUR/USD currency pair represents the value of the Euro against the US dollar.
